Who knows more about Comessa?
Two light railway locomotives for the Industrieel Smalspoor MuseumWho knows more about Comessa? In April / May 2023 a collector of first world war artifacts offered to sell the “Industrieel Smalspoor Museum” in the Netherlands two narrow gauge (600 mm) locomotives and some wagons from Belgium. The locomotives are an Orenstein & Koppel, Type LD 2 and a Comessa, built by Comess Productions Mécaniques Schiltigheim-Strasbourg S.A. The Comessa is based on the design of the Diema B10 which were fitted with a Junkers HK65 opposed piston engine. However this Comessa has an engine by CLM which was built under licence from Junkers. Whilst Comessa is based on the Diema B10, Comess made some changes and so some dimensions are different. The museum’s research shows that Comess imported 44 Diema locomotives between January 1929 and February 1932 and that they started their own locomotive production on or after 1935 and that they also built models based on Gmeinder.If anyone knows more about Comessa in general or about the Comessa above it would be very grateful if they would contact Toon Steenmeyer by email toon.steeenmeyer (at) gmail.com.
Deux locomotives de campagne pour l’Industrieel Smalspoor MuseumEn avril/mai 2023, le « Industrieel Smalspoor Museum » aux Pays-Bas a pu acquérir deux locomotives à voie étroite et du matériel de wagons sur voie de 600 mm en provenance de Belgique. Ce matériel a été offert par un collectionneur de matériel de la Première Guerre mondiale. Les locomotives sont une O&K LD2 et une Comessa, construite par Comess Productions Mécaniques Schiltigheim-Strasbourg S.A..La conception de la Comessa semble être basée sur une Diema B10 avec un moteur à double piston Junkers HK65, sauf que cette a un moteur à double piston CLM sous licence Junkers. D’ailleurs, les dimensions du Comessa ne correspondent pas à celles du Diema. Nous savons que Comessa a importé 44 locomotives Diema à voie étroite entre août 1929 et février 1932, et il est possible que Comessa ait commencé sa propre production de locomotives à voie étroite en 1935 ou après, et ait également construit des modèles basés sur des machines Gmeinder.Pour plus de détails sur Comessa en général et sur notre Comessa, le musée invite à contacter toon.steeenmeyer (at) gmail.com.
Zwei Feldbahnloks für das Industrieel Smalspoor MuseumDas „Industrieel Smalspoor Museum“ in den Niederlanden konnte im April / Mai 2023 zwei Feldbahn-Lokomotiven und einiges Wagenmaterial (Spurweite 600 mm) aus Belgien in seinen Bestand übernehmen. Ein Sammler von Material aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg bot sie dem Museum zum Kauf an. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Orenstein & Koppel, Type LD 2 und eine Comessa, gebaut von Comess Productions Mécaniques Schiltigheim-Strasbourg S.A. Die Comessa scheint auf einer Diema B10 mit Junkers HK65 Gegenkolbenmotor zu basieren, aber mit einem CLM Gegenkolbenmotor in Lizenzbau von Junkers. Die Abmessungen der Lokomotive sind allerdings anders als bei Diema. Comessa importierte zwischen August 1929 und Februar 1932 44 Diema Feldbahnlokomotiven. Es könnte sein, dass Comessa im Jahr 1935 oder später eine eigene Lokproduktion gestartet hat und dass auch Modelle nach dem Vorbild von Gmeinder gebaut wurden.Für weitere Berichte über Comessa im Allgemeinen und über die oben erwähnte Comessa wäre das „Industrieel Smalspoor Museum“ sehr dankbar.
