Once they were an indispensable part of railway depots for turning locomotives and other rail vehicles, today they are superfluous and very rarely found. The Belgian state railway SNCB/NMBS is now selling one of its last 24-metre turntables. It is in working order and is located on the old site of the workshop of Kinkempois/Liège in Belgium.
