Update 73

c

This edition of Update reflects a clear step forward for FEDECRAIL and the wider heritage rail sector. Following our Annual General Meeting, we have strengthened our governance, clarified roles, and set a more structured path for the future. But structure alone is not enough – our impact depends on active members, shared knowledge, and collective engagement.

Across the conference and this issue, several key themes emerge: visibility, collaboration, and the need to act. From discussions on preservation and ERTMS to the future of fuel and the importance of data, one message is clear – we must move from discussion to action. If we want to preserve our sector, we must also make it visible, measurable, and relevant in today’s context.

At the same time, this Update highlights what makes FEDECRAIL unique: people. From Youth Upskill and growing engagement from younger generations to calls for stronger networks, best practice sharing, and new contributors – our future is built together. Now is the time to engage, contribute, and help shape what comes next.
