Each year FEDECRAIL organises an international conference on subjects important to heritage railways and railway museums and to foster mutual contacts and cooperation between its members. These conferences are targeted mainly at persons playing an active role in museum and tourist railways, railway museums, locomotive and rolling stock groups, national federations and other railway heritage bodies. Others with broader interests in railway heritage are also welcome to attend.
2019 will be a very special year for Fedecrail marking the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Federation on 16th April 1994 in Belgium. Each year since 1994 Fedecrail has organised a combined conference and visit programme to member railways, tramways and museums in a different country annually in collaboration with one of our national “umbrella organisation” members.
Our Jubilee Conference 2019 will be held in collaboration with VDMT Verband Deutscher Museums und Touristikbahnen at Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains of Germany. This is the home of perhaps the last daily normal service steam train operation in Europe, HSB Harzer Schmalspur Bahnen who will be our local hosts.
A series of special Jubilee Newsletters will be published over the five months leading up to the conference date giving latest news on the conference business, visits programme, booking arrangements and other useful information. Each Jubilee Newsletter will be placed on this section of the website and information will also be available from the conference team at: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are hoping that colleagues actively involved in railway and tramway heritage throughout Europe (and beyond!) will join us for this major celebration event.
Notice: For items priced with 0.00 € give the number of attendees as applicable, please. Dietary requirements shall be specified at the end of the booking process in the available notes field.
FEDECRAIL's previous conferences are listed below. Conference papers from the latest conference will not be loaded to this site. They are only made available to conference delegates, or for purchase from the Newsletter Editor. Papaers from old conferences will be loaded to this site when available in electronic form.
